I Heart Kate Nash

I forgot about her. Thanks carr. Such fantastic lyrics. Too good to just put up one- so scroll down to the other one!

Kate Nash - Foundations

I would like my hair/make-up to look something like this:

Oh and I didn't break my promise- room pictures!

My slightly uneven make-shift picture holder!
(Now send me some mail to put up there with flan's vday card and garth's Honduras postcard)

My bedside table- with my new shades- and my current nail colour. and a few spare pence.

The wonderful book I am slowly making my way through.

My little bag trick and crafty sheet manipulation.
At this point anything on my blank white walls makes it all so much lovelier.

Now for some clothes I've been meaning to share:

(forgive the lighting- but this is my bright new t-shirt from Zara)

What I wish I was able to wear right now. Rain rain go away!

My 'vintage' dress on the left from Malta, and my BCBG blazer I want to wear every day.

Kate Nash - Pumpkin Soup

(Kate Nash also sings this terribly depressing but wonderful song 'Nicest Thing' you should probably look up)

Have a relaxing Sunday night xo cmac

Uh Oh!

My inner-shopaholic is trying very hard to get out. Ahhhh!

Amy even offered to come with me to the mall- but I withheld because I knew there would be trouble. Good thing, because I just found a million things on the internet I can't wait to get my hands on. Have I mentioned my new obsession with all things Zara. I want everything in that store. and I didn't even go into H&M the other day I was in the wall. But once I get a chance- oh boy. I gathered evidence of all the wonderful finds.
These beauties are proof that I can hold back on the shopping. I had them on my feet, I fell in love. I had images of France. I was wearing wonderful dresses/boyfriend-jeans/polka dot bikinis in my mind. I'm going to go get them this week. I have to. They are from TopShop and are cheaper than my law ball shoes. If I could've made 'em work with my dress, I would have got them instead. I adore them. They are so in style. I need them on my feet asap.

Then Zara went and made adorable pants in a million colours and I have renewed my love for pants. (The ones above even have little suspenders attached!)
p.s I should train myself to call them trousers- because if you say pants here you get funny looks and are directed towards the underwear section.)

And then this great green tank.

And then it was like H&M knew I was losing interest and came out with a million dresses I NEED!

How fabulous! My wardrobe would be empty without this dress- and did I mention only 20 gbp?

Cool outfit.

What I should be wearing as I sip a latte in Paris. Or in the Louvre.

And below- in some smoky bar.

And then the Sartorialist always has wonderful people in wonderful outfits:

And then my room obsession got the best of me:

So I wasted another hour. But i finished one chunk of reading so it was my reward. Next break: upload my pictures for you.

Busy Brain.

It has been one of those nights where my brain is on over-drive- but not on the things it should be filled with like Criminal Justice and Contract. I came home from the library because my ipod died and my head hurt from reading the same thing over and over and over... then we got groceries, had dinner and then I did this new thing I do. Procrastinate. No wait- that isn't new at all. But I was reading all my fav blogs and I was being all inspired and I couldn't contain myself any longer when I found a project I had all the necessary 'equipment' to actually do, so I did it. (That was such a run-on- but it was really how I was thinking it). I even took pictures for you. But since I am in bed you will have to hold off on the images and use your little imaginations.

I had string, and nails and ...clothes hanger pins? Clothes pins! So I hammered away, tied the string to the nails, used the pins to hold some postcards/pictures/a pretty pink envelope in place and voila! My room finally had some character. Since October I have been trying to make this room mine- and with lack of funds/time/energy I had made excuses over and over again, when all along these little devices sat in drawers in my kitchen. So it started there. and then I decided I would try out this little idea I had for my pretty shopping bags... and then the curtains.

You may have seen the pictures of the totally 60's various-shades-of-green curtains that I was unaware of when purchasing my silky green duvet cover. Had I known I would have picked something white, accented with green and be done with it. But no. But a few nights ago as I was drifting to sleep a wonderful idea came to mind- the excess sheets/pillowcases that came with the silky duvet. Perfect. So after craftily hanging one of said pillowcases over my hideous/unusable fireplace(in a slightly tacky way but it will work) and re-arrangign my pretty shoes, I grabbed the useless fitted green silk sheet. On my tippy toes and atop my bed I attached the corners to the top of the (equally hideous) curtain rod, bunched it up in the middle and tied it with a bow. You know what? It all clashes very obviously but it sort of brings the room together in a weird/delusional way. I will put up pictures in the morning. Oh and I also gave up my plans of beautiful glass knobs for my jewellery to hang from- and instead hammered in a couple more nails. but it works.

My wish list now is narrowed down to:
-white fairy lights to hang above my shelves/mirror/makeup area
-ribbon and glue to fix up my ugly bedside lamp
-a shelf to nail into the wall for my books! NOT school books, only pretty books and knick-knack things
-a frame for the print chloflan made for me
-oh and tape/sticky tac so I can start a mini collage of pretty things I like in magazines on a blank spot of wall next to my clothes.

Reasonable? Yes. When I will let myself get distracted by my room again? Hopefully not too soon. Because the hour I allowed myself turned into another hour of perusing through more blogs, dreaming about France even more, and London with ma mere et mon pere in just a few weeks, and then more ideas and then before I knew it, I was under the covers ready for bed. So I didn't finish all the work I wanted to. So it means no long posts about music tomorrow. Or early morning yoga. Bad girl. But I don't feel quite so bad about it now that I have shared it with you.

So watch this cute girl sing a song I like better coming from her than Gaga (don't worry, I am not hating on Gaga, I just feel like when I hear the real version and can't help singing the words to 'Express Yourself' by Madonna- understand what I am saying?)
P.S this is courtesy of Geronimo's fb, I did not find it myself.

Inspiration.

How to be an Artist by SARK

Stay loose. Learn to watch snails. Plant an impossible Garden.
Invite someone dangerous to tea.
Make little signs that say 'yes'! and post them all over your house.
Make friends with freedom and uncertainty.
Look forward to Dreams. Cry during movies.
Swing as high as you can on a swing set, by moonlight.
Cultivate moods. refuse to "be responsible".
Do it for love. Take lots of naps.
Give money away. Do it now... The money will follow.
Believe in Magic. Laugh a lot.
Celebrate every gorgeous moment. Take moon baths.
have wild imaginings, Transformative Dreams, and perfect calm.
Draw on the walls. Read every day.
Imagine yourself Magic. Giggle with children. Listen to old people.
Bless yourself. Play with everything.
Entertain your inner child. You are innocent.
Build a fort with blankets. Get wet.
Hug a tree. Write love letters.

** From a great blog I have fallen in love with. I also found this site through her- and it is making me want to put my books down and get creative tonight...only a few more chapters to go...

Decisions decisions.

Okay I got the shoes! (scroll down- the first picture- those ones) And I decided to wear the earrings flan gave me for my birthday a few years ago- which I am wearing in this picture:
(squint - because I cannot seem to be able to zoom in)

 And I will most likely wear the big bling ring Grandma Mary got me. No necklace is required. But I am still potentially looking for some sort of gold feather-esque piece for my hair. How shall I do my hair? Well that is still up in the air- and also dependant on how much time I will have between having a presentation to do this week, tutorials, and setting up for the actual event. But here are a few pictures for inspiration:

It's gonna be down, curly and hopefully I will have a chance to get my bangs trimmed this week so you can see my eyes. As for makeup- probably something pretty simple/classic and pale pink lips.

If you have any suggestions- let me know! I will also be visiting the tanning booth more than I should this week- and loading on the self-tanner in hopes to be less 'see-through' and more 'pale glow'. We will see how that goes.

p.s also went shopping with geronimo and she got a fabulous fuchsia dress that is so 60's and wonderful and such sexy shoes- I am just a little tiny bit jealous. But I will have pictures, so you will see.

Time to study- cheers!

Shoes.

Okay I am about to pass out after a busy day of classes, ticket selling and hot yoga BUT I have one very important order of business to share with YOU. Friday (and then maybe off to London on Saturday) I am going shopping for law ball shoes, jewellery and clutch. Now I haven't done my pre-shop research on the latter two, but as for shoes:

 These are pretty adorable at Aldo, but I'm not sure it will work with the already craziness of my dress..Thoughts?
 These gorgeous shoes have had my eye for probably a year. They would be a simple finishing touch to my outfit, but they have the possibility of some seriously sore toes. Also, I'm not quite sure the colour is right.

These shoes are seriously cool, from a seriously cool shoes store here.
But agin- too much? Wrong colour?
These are pretty simple and could work if they weren't too metallic-y. But theses don't scream "Shoes I HAVE to have"- right?

So my point is, until my little feet are wiggling their way into every shoe in site- I just don't think I will be able to choose. I tried to find you at least part of my dress to give you a sneak peak/an idea which would match- but you will have to wait until next weekend!

P.S While on the hunt for a picture of the dress, I scanned through the BCBG site. Mom, get on there. So many cute things.

Love Day.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope you are all feeling loved today. It doesn't have to be with that special someone, anyone will do. Today was a day to dress in pink, wear my heart-shaped earrings, and buy cookies with silly sayings.

(I'd love to get some of these! For now they'll have to be a present to myself.
Which I am totally fine with)
I hope you all had some goodies and rolled your eyes at least once at silly little couples being overly obsessed with this day. But I'm not knocking it- I have to admit I adore this day. That's why I refused to go to the library tonight. Instead we had the girls over to study- while eating pie and drinking mimosas. Not bad hey? Girls night is better than wallowing, listening to love songs and missing home.

But tomorrow is just another Tuesday- and with all these tutorials it will be seriously lacking in tequila and full of sweaty yoga instead. How glamourous.

So I hope you have done something for YOU today. People always say that you have to learn to love yourself- and what better day to strive to do that than today. Even if you have someone else you are focusing all that lovely attention on.

A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge.
-Thomas Carlyle

I can live without money, but I cannot live without love.
-Judy Garland

Your Looks are laughable, unphotographable, yet you're my favorite work of art.
-Frank Sinatra

Unrelated. Read this. Wish I was more like this.
"I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I cannot transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls." ~ Anaïs Nin

Carb-induced coma

This will be super short. I have discovered last.fm- maybe I am behind, but if you haven't, go here and get inspired with new music. This one of the many attempts to get music on my blog. You may notice a little bar at the bottom of the page- another attempt. I'm giving up for tonight, but it will be a task for Wednesday. I just made a fabulous gourmet mac n' cheese- and boy should you be jealous. But wine + pasta + mass amounts of scrumptious cheeses = bedtime.
Everything shall be pink tomorrow (except when I meet up with the girls and pretend to hate valentines..)

Sunday Morning Music

Oh Sunday how I love/hate you. A day I wish I could curl up with a good book and tea and big wool socks and just laze the day away. But then school comes along and ruins this lovely day for me. Today, however, it was not the dread of work that got me out of bed- it was yoga. I popped out of bed, scurried around in our freezing house getting everything ready, but thankfully before running out the door I called my yoga partner- and she was still in bed. Dilemma: I'm all ready BUT I have 72 million things to do today that won't get completed if I go. I wish I said I went. But instead I grabbed my mac and wrapped up in a blanket and here we are.
So before I get to those 71 million other things, I thought I'd take a few minutes to give you a nice little post. It's all for you- not for procrastination purposes at all...

Something that is key on Sundays is music (um okay I'm pretty sure this is true of every other day of the week as well, but I'm trying to make a point here!). Sunday music isn't like the other days' music- it's gotta slowww down and mellow out.

Here are just a few songs I've accumulated for this particular purpose:
(p.s whoever can tell me how to put some kind of music player on my blog wins a prize)

Jose Gonzalez- Heartbeats (cover) {I know I have put this on here before, but it's such a Sunday Fav}

The Album Leaf- Eastern Glow {I've loved this since the OC times...}

Jesse Cook- Fall at Your Feet {because it reminds me of my favourite concert(s) of all time}

Maroon 5- Sunday Morning {because I have a serious weakness for them}

Patrick Watson- The Great Escape {so beautiful}

Iron & Wine- The Trapeze Swinger {pretty much anything by them works on Sunday}

Carla Bruni- quelqu'un m'a dit {the soundtrack to my french daydreams}

Florence and the Machine- Between Two Lungs {can't have a list of songs without her}

The Cinematic Orchestra(ft. Patrick Watson)- To Build A Home {can this be my future wedding song?}

Mark Farina- Dream Machine {thanks for this carrface}

Metric- Help I'm Alive {pretty much anything from this cd}

Bon Iver- Team {a nice end to this list..and any playlist}

Okay now that I hopefully have placated you enough, I am off to do thousands of readings, grocery shopping and sunday dinner cookin!

Photo Sharing?

I think if you click on this link, you will be able to see my Malta album without having to have facebook...at least that is what they say. So instead of me taking forever to add all of these pictures, perhaps you can see some this way.
Let me know if this doesn't work!

Here's the deal.

Okay my dears,
I have a million things I have racked up in my brain to blabber on and on about to you- but I am terribly sleep-deprived and I just can't do it tonight. There have been so many birthdays this week, and hot yoga, and serious studying, and law ball dilemmas, and dreaming about spring and France and pretty things that I'd rather look at than my law textbooks... so you will have to trust me. I know I keep saying good things will come- and I promise they will. I've even created a little folder on my desktop I keep dragging things into for future blogs. I promise I have not given up on this attempt at a silly experiment. But right now my eyes are heavy and my early-morning study date is looming. But to keep you hopeful, you get three things:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Books:  I finished The Passage awhile back and it was wonderful. Read it if you want something adventurous and even a bit bizarre. Now I am using The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time to put me into a deep sleep- but not because it bores me. It is very quirky and wonderful so far, and very different to the last book.
2. Politics: The news about Egypt has been a top concern around here, especially because of one of my great friends here. There are obviously so many different opinions on this, and I don't feel like I could explain - so read the BBC's article. This is something that our kids will read about in history books- so take a second to learn a little.
3. Glee: Just get hooked already.
Cheers,
cmac
Back to the grind.
Well it is friday evening after a busy week back at school. There is no easing back into this- I already have a ton of things to do. I thought in a little break readings I'd give you an update. Most of my big plans for this week went out the window ( like re-decorating, intense cleaning and super nerdyness) but oh well.
Monday was uneventful for the most part- but lots of lectures- oh and I wore my super cute new boots.
Tuesday was the return of my favourite event- Tequila Tuesday. We had maturely decided that since we had late lectures, we would hold off until afterwards.. and that lasted all of three minutes. So I went to Tort tipsy- and I promise I will never do that again. But since we got our 'fix' earlier, it was a quiet night.
Wednesday was a fun day. I had yet to take advantage of the perks of my phone company- but I have now. They call them Orange Wednesdays (the company name is orange) and you text 'film' to a number and get a code in return- which gets you 2 for 1 movie tickets AND 2 for 1 dinner at this great little pizza place. So Christine and I went and ate yummy pizza and watched Black Swan. AMAZING! I know I would love it regardless fo the story because of the ballet- but holy crap it was intense. If you have not seen it- you better. I definitely had scary dreams that night- and was not thrilled about walking home. But Natalie Portman is amazing and...just wow!
Thursday was a continuation of the craziness of Tuesday. After a full day of classes, and even two hours at the library, I walked into my house to the centurion. Amy, Jackson and Christine had taken 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes- and it was 7pm. So naturally I had to catch up...with tequila. So it was a classic night of silly-ness. Today was a little hard to get through, but with lots of water/diet coke I managed.
But now, I am studying hard and trying to get organized. It was a fun week- but this cannot continue any longer. So it is back to being responsible and studious. I'll update soon as  to how that is going :)
Kitchen.
Part of this is an Ikea commercial- which is how I fell in love with it. So silly! I love Ikea kitchens...that's why you'll always find me in the kitchen at parties :)
