Shuffle

Since I have my third exam TOMORROW this will be quick. While I study and try to hold the tears of stress back, I have been avoiding my usual playlists and turning towards the shuffle option on the old ipod to keep things refreshing. So today I wrote down a couple of favs that came on that I kind of forgot  I love.

1) My rights versus yours- The New Pornographers {a fitting legal name- but no applicable at all}

2) Fear and convenience - Thao & the get down stay down

3) Fix you- Coldplay {see video below please- it sorta makes me cry}

So you think you can dance - Fix you - Robert & Allison

I also redecorated (aka rearranged) my bedroom on Sunday. I just moved my bed around and created a new 'bag display' with the help of Geronimo (and later diaz). The first picture is courtesy of G-mo: the new way to amuse her is to try and make us put that bag on the wall. Hey! It's High and I'm short!

But then I made them potato pancakes for dinner with pesto spaghetti and then stayed up late talking like we were 13. Good thing we have exams...

Okay more for you tomorrow- stay tuned xo cmac

(from because im addicted- a new blog I've hunted down)

4. How I would like my hair cut to really look: here. But don't freak out- I would never try to pull off that orangey-red- just love how her bangs kinda blend right into her hair. Oh and love the glasses she is wearing.

5. Because Gossip Girl was the only season finale that didn't make me shake my fist in frustration:
(and cause I wish I hated Blake Lively more- from here)

6. My new scarf that I will surely be trying to make into a turban-esque head wrap in no time: here

7. I think my orange-obsessed roommate is finally getting to me:
(from H&M- love it)

two more weeks until I am done. can't wait.

Vogue's Summer Mix

Mooozac

Yay I found a playlist that will play on the bottom! So press play and listen to a little Maroon 5 love. I plan on switching the playlist up often so don't freak out if you hate this one (but we should probably discontinue our friendship...)

yearning for some DIY time

I can't help it. My brain has been trying so hard to be logical and studious for the last ...god I don't know..foreverrrr (only three more weeks of this damn exam period). So I have been finding myself longing to do something artsy and creative. I have big plans for the summer. I have found so many things I want to do/make/dream about. Whether any of it is realistic is a different story.

Oh p.s look at the bottom of the screen- press play! a song! Hooray! Now I don't know how to make whole playlists for it yet- but I'm working on it. But back to my various dreams:

Since a good friend of mine put an old chest in her room, I have been set on finding a similar one to house all the various silly things I own/collect/hoard. But now I have a new obsession- vintage suitcases.
I nearly bought a pale yellow one from a vintage store a couple months ago.
Now I am kicking myself looking at Emily's great idea.

Bedroom makeovers have also been on my brain. The above feels like something I would love to somehow incorporate into my leopard-mania of a room. I also love the bookshelf in the background on the right. I have decided (oh hey parents I hope this is cool) to organize the mass collection of books in our house. Naturally my room becomes a graveyard for anything and everything when I'm off at school. Which I only add to because I am what you may classify as a 'pack rat'- i.e. I keep everything. Pictures of high school boyfriends, birthday cards from everyone, and essentially all my notes from my undergrad. So basically what starts off as a disaster when I arrive only gets worse with my presence.
BUT
I have vowed to myself to change that this year. I figure the jet-lag will get to me for the first few days I'm home- which will be used for removing anything I can. Then I will get to organizing. I have clothes that I am sure won't even fit my little cousin anymore. Okay there I go rambling.
The plan: organize my room.
Then: tackle the expanding 'library' of books that my family insists in keeping piled in my room.
So since every blog I read talks about cool ways to organize bookshelves, I have many ideas. All of which actually will require me obtaining a shelf-like piece of furniture. But I will make this one work.

This bedroom makes me want to dive right in. I kind of want to switch up my chocolate brown sheets I have here in the UK to cozy white ones. And I want that mirror. Okay pretty much I love the whole look. Comfortable but clean simple lines.

Cupcakes and Cashmere again. Her clothing/shoes/hair/life make me eternally jealous.
But just look at these damn shoes. They are from Zara. I want. Maybe in Spain??

Please please find me a way to have one of these. preferably by the pool. with white pillows.
I might not leave.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

I WILL make this project happen. Garage sales/vintage shops/VV better watch out- I am on the hunt.
i just can't decide if I want to do the multi-coloured ones or just black...

I have also been perusing the DIY section of Honestly WTF and they are amazing. Wait have I told you that already- 700 times? Well I have plans to try at least 5 of these. Oh and my most exciting idea of all was sparked by The Man Repeller (have I talked about how I want to be her best friend yet? no- well I do) - her post. I actually went and purchased string today. It may not be my most ambitious project- but I am sooo making friendship bracelets. Oh when you ask? Well as I am memorizing 300 cases, I plan to knot string together into beautiful creations. Don't lie- you want one. Maybe if you become a follower of my blog, make a comment about why I am such a fab friend...I will consider it. But don't think this is some sort of giveaway. Who do you think I am?? Although I have contemplated the idea of spelling out case names in the design- I could sell those babies to all the first year kids and make big money. Too ambitious?

Okay so here's the deal. I have some grandiose plans for my summer. Projects. Eat like a fake vegetarian 6/7 days a week. Do hot yoga 3-4 times a week. Read a gazillion books. Go against my sun-repellant skin and get a golden tan. Is it all going to happen? I guess you will have to stick around and see. But the reading will most definitely occur. In fact, I had a great 'study break' tonight with saad and geronimo to talk about the various books we recommend for each other. Thanks to them, I have a summer reading list started:
*The Alchemist
*Gone with the Wind
*Emma
*Jane Eyre
*Blindness
*White Tiger
*One Hundred Years of Solitude
*Re-read Catcher in the Rye
*finally finish To Kill a Mockingbird (bad law student.)
...plus I have mentioned before that I want to focus on some classics this summer. Have any suggestions??

Okay lovelies, it was bedtime hours ago. And I have somehow been tricked into joining the P90x bandwagon. I no longer love Tony after waking up this morning to a stiff neck and a throbbing headache. But tomorrow I will give him another chance. Except due to the ticking study clock it will have to be early. Yuck.
One exam down, four to go.
Oh and did I tell you I won social secretary for the Canadian Law Society? Cuz I did.
And three weeks until I am homeeeee.

Mini-update

I finally uploaded my France pictures- go here to browse.
I also uploaded my pictures from the last month- go here.

Oxford and The Naked and Famous were amazinggggg. But seriously I have an exam Monday and the sheer terror of it is finally getting to me. So Here's just a few things I have found on study breaks:

There is so much to love about everything above.

Here's a video from the concert. It is terrible quality and I think you may hear the crowd singing more than them, but I think it shows just how packed it was. and how fun.
{{the damn video won't load}}

(For what this song actually sounds like- see my previous blog. The song's called 'All of this')

Also: this is a song I love more after the concert

The Naked and Famous - Punching In A Dream

Oh and last night on my way home i walked past TWO Foxes. And then this song was stuck in my head:

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal

Have a great long weekend xo cmac

Study Tunes

Cults - Abducted by cultscultscults

You know how I have been trying to get music on my damn blog forever, and have resorted to youtube. BUT I just figured out I can embed soundcloud songs and I am sorta excited. I have like NO time but I'm always hunting for new music while studying and here are a few things I am trying out...

-the above song- and anything else you can find by 'Cults' - Thanks to Geronimo for pointing them out!

- you know you have wicked brothers when one tells you about THREE new albums to look at:
              -> New Fleet Foxes {I feel like I need to drive to this- but for now- studying}
              -> Boy and Bear {they're growing on me Connor}
              -> Hungry kids of Hungary {love the name}

-Germany Germany

Just Go ft. Steffaloo by Germany Germany

-Ra Ra Riots

Ra Ra Riot - The Orchard by albums

Well these are just a couple I've found in the last 24hrs- but I'm also resorting back to my usual study tunes sometimes {like Buena Vista Social Club, Jesse Cook etc.}

I am also dipping into the Maroon 5 far too often- partially because Geronimo has developed a new love for them and is reminding me PLUS my wonderful-amazing-crazy-cool parents got me tickets to see them in September!!

And with The Naked and Famous tomorrow, I am committing every lyric to memory and preparing to sing right along.

But back to the books!

2) This movie:

3) We booked Spain! The day we finish exams we will celebrate by hoping on a plane to Alicante for 4 nights and 3 beach-filled days.

4) Maroon 5. This summer. {well it's actually in September but whateverrr}

5) I will be home in a month!

Okay well this is serious crunch time with studying. I will post any time I can.
Hope your days are filled with anything better than law textbooks.

Wardrobe Wednesday

Okay, like every blog I read has little features they do on certain days(ex. Five Thing Friday, Wee bit Wednesdays etc.). But since I am a little manic-depressive with this here blog, I can't commit to things like this. {I even missed out on my big plans for a Mother's Day blog- terrible daughter, I know, but hey mom you got my facebook profile pic} However, it is Wednesday and I do have a bunch of things to show you that I have either added or wish I could add to my beloved wardrobe. I am having a bit of a love-hate thing with bloggers photo uploader. So instead of fighting for the order I want all of these in, I'm going to accept the randomness and work with it.

I saw this the day before I left for France.
[I knoww, still have to do that post, but I need to make it a beauty, so just wait a little longer]
Anyways, it is spring, love is in the air- and I fell hard for this beauty.
Please note that in reality it is much more neon pink than this rosy hue.
See the end of this post for more on this.

This is the lovely lady responsible for The Cherry Blossom Girl
(see side for link)
She has been in New Zealand and Australia for the last little while, and boy is that making me miss it! If you squint your eyes just right you will notice that her surfboard says "Noosa Longboards", as in Noosa- my favourite part of Australia (so far).

I'm kicking myself because I can't remember where I grabbed this from, but J'adore.

This is from a new blog I love. I plan to tell you more about it later.
Doesn't this dress kinda-sorta remind you of a certain princesses dress?

So pretty!

I have a bit of an obsession with lace. Especially if it's white.

Remember how I mentioned The Cherry Blossom Girl earlier?
Well I also got these from her. These are pictures from her collaboration with Etam. We don't have it in the UK, but when I was in France believe me I hunted for it. No luck. How adorable?

When I have a house, I desperately want a room like this.
This is from a post on Honestly WTF, that I love so much I even gave you the link.

I have my heart set on a new pair of glasses, and these happened to..wait for the cheesy pun...  catch my eye. Unfortunately I doubt I could pull those off, but I do want a pair of slightly larger frames- and thicker- and I dunno- that I can actually see with. As of now, my glasses get me to my bed from the bathroom after the contacts come out. Partly because I do love the contacts (except when you are dealing with daily bouts of itchy allergic eyes) and partly because I have not had the prescription updated for almost 3 years. I miss the 'cool' of wearing glasses. I also was scanning through Elizabeth & James glasses (Olsen twins' line)- and they are pretty cute too.

This is from StyleCaster- if you're curious here is the link
I love the turquoise clutch above and the fish coin purse- cute!
~~~
Another study break was a fabulous evening with Geronimo on Monday.
After studying hard, we went to a student shop-in at River Island (there was a DJ, a roped off 'queue' to check student id's and free redbull) and we were reminded why we need to limit our shopping trips together :)
I got:
This jean jacket.
These lovely tops.
AND these fun 'trousers' that are somewhere between a harem and leggings?
They do look a little bizarre like this, but on- love love love.
(Did I mention that they have them in multiple colours too? I may need to get a basic colour so that I can wear them to work without outdoing Dad in the pattern competition)
Okay so there is an assortment of things to ponder over. It is bed time for me. I have to get up early to study and continue writing my manifesto...did I mention I'm running for the Canadian Law Societies Social Secretary? Well I am. Unfortunately most of my future voters don't read this little gem of a blog, or naturally they would pick me. So I must come up with intelligent words in attempt to woe them all. Pretty sure I have been planning school dances since grade 7...and bossing everyone around since age 2, so I feel like I can make that work to my advantage, don't you?
As a gift, before I likely hibernate from blogging for another few days:
When you miss me, feel free to wander on over to the list of blogs I adore. They are much better at entertaining lovely readers and I still envy everything about them. To add to the list are: This is Glamourous {that I have pictures from above} and one I have been giggling over far too long to not have shared it with you- The Man Repeller. She kills me. Also read this/ look through it to see how she transforms a pretty girl into a prime man repeller!
Stay strong, in less than a month I will be done and you will have an entire summer of posts filled with my constant banter to look forward to!
xo cmac
An explanation
I have been neglecting you. I am aware of this. I promise I have been accumulating. But I feel like I never have time these days. But my head is about to explode with random things to talk about and I thought if I didn't get it all out I might explode.
I have been studying. But who wants to hear about that? (Okay maybe my parents and grandparents- who often think to themselves while reading this "Is she really in law school???"- I am! I studyyy!) But sometimes I take breaks to eat/shop/look at pretty things/celebrate 'historic' holidays/go on educational trips. I don't take pictures of me studying but I do take pictures of this...
Today I went to the Supreme Court!
(This is Geronimo and I sitting in the REAL chairs of the REAL Judges pretending to be professional)
Then we went to Picadilly/Soho and found the Hummingbird Bakery.
I have been searching for so long.
I brought home two delicious cupcakes mmmm.
They have cook books. Would it be too much to ask for one? Even though they are ALL cupcakes, and my excessive love for baking cupcakes has been completely cut off by my useless oven??
If you could try their red velvet ones, you'd wish I could make them for you...
And then we satisfied a craving I have had since Christmas:
SUSHI
YUM!
And the place was called Satsuma- so naturally it was all orange inside. I would've taken a picture but I was too distracted by the food- you're lucky I snapped this shot.
Hey look! Proof I am actually in the UK. Big Ben...
...Parliament...
...And you should all recognize Westminster Abbey!
~~~~
Last week it was Cinco de Mayo - so we celebrated the Mexican in all of us :)

The FOUR amigos.
(Above and Below)

(yes, those are in fact mini orange garbage cans we are drinking out of)

Okay the margaritas were a little too sour with the grapefruit juice- but focus on the hot white jeans.

I wore my new Zara green maxi skirt and my white&green wedges
(Look mom I matched!)

One of the guys even managed to find a pinata in this mexican-free town.
There was lots of candy.

So as you see, I have been busy. In an effort to not create the longest post of all time, I will cut this one off here. BUT I will quickly get my fingers typing up the next one because I have soooo much more to say. Surprised?
